Enchanted Garden Cupcakes for Xyla

bad pictures = rushed = it was 6 am *yawn*
orders from mbak evi in trinidad for her family in bintaro..
it's for her niece, xyla..
she wanted it to be girly but without pink..
i swear i browsed my way through a lot of pics..

its just so hard to do girly without pink..
i came across this design from flickr..
imitated some and made others from my own thinking..
and voila..

"Happy Birthday Sara" Cupcakes

a dozen red velvet and half dozen lemon cupcakes

this was edna's order again..
this is for her lil' sis bday her name is sara..
she wanted cupcakes that spelled "happy birthday sara" so she ordered one dozen red velvet and half dozen lemon cupcakes..
the "happy birthday sara" is molded out of dark chocolate, since sara doesn't like white chocolate..
the red velvet is topped with a "poop"like swirl with a single red heart sprinkle on top and the lemon is topped with a dome shape frosting with a single red heart sprinkle..

as usual she was very specific with what she wanted, so this order wasn't hard at all..
and there's something with the red-white-dark chocolate color combination that looks sophisticated for a young adult's bday..
maybe i just like the simplicity :D

and sara also ordered a dozen chocolate cupcakes for her mates in kos2an..
she asked for 4 different frostings: the green is mint, the yellow is cheese, the white is vanilla and the chocolate of course is chocolate DUH! hehehe..

Hello Kitty Cupcakes for Nayarra

half dozen chocolate crunch and lemon cupcakes

these hello kitty cupcakes are for dita's niece nayarra who just turned two..
the theme colors are purple, pink and red but i didn't make a red frosting because it looks scary in the midst of pastel colors hehe..
i made 6 hello kitty toppers but i didn't make bow because i don't have the cutter and i'm not confident of my hand shaping skill since i am way of a beginner in fondant..
the other six toppers are cut into two shapes: flower and star, it says "happy birthday nayarra" in small letter stamp and brushed with gold lustre..
the hardest part was making the whiskers of the hello kitty, shaping it was a pain, sticking it was the worst..
and suddenly IT RAINED REALLY REALLY HARD, literally POURING..
so i had to leave my room air conditioned for 36 hours straight so these toppers could dry properly..

oh the hello kitty figure in the middle is mine, i just put it as an accessory to decorate the picture hehe..

Cupcakes for Edna

half dozen vanilla with chocolate pudding and lemon cupcakes

why the poor quality pictures?
because i just finished baking and stapling the boxes at 1 am..
i put an alarm at 9 am to take pictures outside while its not so bright and humid, but i kept hitting the snooze button until 10 am..
the voice of edna calling: "SANDRAAAAA.." woke me up hahaha..

edna was a very specific customer..
she knew exactly what she wanted..the cupcake flavor, the frosting color, and even the sprinkles..
she asked specifically that the vanilla with chocolate pudding be topped with vanilla frosting swirl like an ice cream then sprinkled with oreo crumbs..
for the lemon cupcakes she asked that they are frosted like a dome with vanilla frosting and decorated with two hearts on the side..

specific orders make my job so much easier, that way i just do what i gotta do, of course giving my feed backs as well..
and voila finished..

"Happy Birthday Dira" Cupcakes (Dora Theme)

this time is for her niece birthday..
nadira aka dira is a very special girl, she's girly like most girls, love DORA THE EXPLORER, and like her auntie loves to apply make up..
she's just turned 4 today :D
ujie is my favorite customer because she just mentions she wants "happy birthday" chocolate topper and 5 dora heads from fondant, then she trust me with the color and sprinkles..
so here is me and my creativity doing its thing, hoping it won't disappoint..
there's 18 cupcakes in total and 5 dora head topper that is not attached because ujie wants to refrigerate the cupcakes for later in the evening when the birthday party starts..
and as we know the biggest enemy of fondant is moisture, that's exactly what a refrigerator is..

oh yes the crown and card i printed them on concord paper, cut it out, another bonus for the lovely bday girl..

Cupcakes for Bang Alan

These cupcakes are for Bang Alan's bday, ordered by his wifey, Iin..

i previously met up with Iin for a tester, she mentioned she wanted to order for her husband's bday..
She asked if i have lemon cupcakes and at that time i didn't but i remember this one recipe..
So i searched for it and try making a batch..
Then i brought it as a tester and she loved it, she said "people will like this flavor trust me"
Thanks to her i found a new flavor: LEMON CUPCAKES :)
Iin ordered 2 dozen of chocolate cupcakes, 1 dozen of vanilla cupcakes and 1 dozen of lemon cupcakes..

bonus: 4 lemon cupcakes

since it's a quite a big order *for a beginner bakul kue* i accepted deliveries..
we planned for 10 o'clock-ish, then sudden rain and i didn't really know the mega kuningan area, plus parking the car, checking for ID entering the building..
i finally got to his office at 11 o'clock, i was so ready to be yelled at by bang Alan..
huuuuuu..

THE LEMON CUPCAKES GOT RUINED :'(
i was shaking, so mad at myself, i mean how could have this happened?
the white paper that was suppose to hold these cupcakes somehow rode up during the car ride and killed the frosting..
but i'm glad it was only the lemon cupcakes, the other 3 dozens were fine *phew*
but i felt guilty as guilty as a convict can be..

i set up the cupcakes into the pantry with the help of mbak fitri, then bang Alan came..
he greeted me and i was like apologizing 1.000.000 times..
for not being on time and killing the lemon cupcakes..
everyone said its fine *i sure didn't feel fine*
i cut a deal with Iin, she said she doesn't want any replacement, but i insisted, will write about that later..

so MORAL of the story is:
1. plan your timing if you're going to deliver, this is JAKARTA after all..
2. the white paper liner that is suppose to hold the cupcakes need to be taped somewhere, so no more killing the frosting grrrrrrrr!!
3. have a contact card or something so when people ask, i have a better answer than "tanya iin aja" LOL *what was i thinking moment*
4. the crucial thing about cupcakes is the handling, so these kind of risk such as ruined frosting is like MEGA DEATH..as a "tukang bakul kue" i must learn to take responsibilities for the damage i had done..i mean i'm lucky i know Iin personally, but if i want to keep this up, i better shape up! So a dozen of red velvet will be delivered sometimes next week ya :)

the bonus mix: 2 chocolate cupcakes, 2 vanilla cupcakes, 1 lemon cupcake and 1 strawberry cupcake..

mbak neila previously wanted to order these cupcakes for her niece's birthday party but turns out she is allergic to dairy products..
but she went on with the order thinking there will be plenty of lil' kids..
i told her specifically to put these cupcakes in the fridge to keep the frosting from melting in which she did *I LIKE THIS*
so when she got to the birthday party, these cupcakes were freeeezing but the lil' ones were excited, in a rush of grabbing them..
once they got a hold of the cupcake, they were all screaming "DINGIN!" after trying to get a bite but kept eating anyways :P
then in the midst of all that sugar rush, kids getting assisted by their parents eating the cupcake, the allergic-to-dairy-product-birthday-girl took a chance of grabbing the cupcake..
she opened wide and TOOK A HUGE BITE out of the cupcake and despite the horror look on the parents face..
she grinned and said "ENAK!" heheheh..

my own lil' brother is on a gluten and casein free diet and i too wish someday he will be able to eat a cupcake :)
